US signs new contract for Javelin anti-tank missile systems production for Ukraine

WASHINGTON, July 25. /TASS/. The US Department of Defense announced signing an over $307.5 million contract with Raytheon-Lockheed Martin joint venture for the production of Javelin anti-tank missile systems for a number of foreign countries, including Ukraine.

“Raytheon-Lockheed Martin Javelin JV, Tucson, Arizona, was awarded a $307,535,950 modification… to Foreign Military Sales (Australia, Estonia, Lithuania, Turkey Taiwan and Ukraine) contract… for Javelin Weapon System full-rate production,” the US Department of Defense said in a statement.

In late April, a spokesperson for the US Department of State confirmed that the US administration had sent a first batch of Javelin anti-tank missile systems to the Ukrainian authorities. Ukraine’s President Pyotr Poroshenko later confirmed that Ukraine received a batch of US-made Javelin anti-tank missile systems. However, he did not say many Javelin systems had been supplied to Ukraine.
