Swedish firm Saab has secured a third order from Lithuania for its Mobile Short Range Air Defense (MSHORAD) system, reinforcing the Baltic nation’s air defense network amid rising regional tensions.

The deal, valued at approximately 1.4 billion Swedish krona ($148 million), covers deliveries between 2026 and 2030 and adds a third battery of MSHORAD systems to the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

Saab will integrate the system into JLTV 4×4 vehicles supplied by Oshkosh, providing mobility and flexibility to air defense units. Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business area Dynamics, emphasized that the system equips Lithuania with tools to anticipate and respond to a wide range of aerial threats.

MSHORAD is a vehicle-mounted air defense solution designed to protect moving units. It combines the RBS 70 NG short-range missile with the Giraffe 1X radar, a command-and-control system, and datalink communications. This allows rapid detection, identification, and engagement of enemy aircraft, drones, or missiles.
