Developing a Space-Based Sensor Layer for Missile Defense

This summer VADM Jim Syring, Director of the Missile Defense Agency, addressed the need to develop a space sensor layer for missile defense saying “given where the threat is going with hypersonics and more ICBMs and so forth this persistent tracking and discrimination capability from space is a must.”

This discussion took place Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 1:30pm – 2:30pm in the Capitol Visitors Center SVC 203-02. focusing on the importance of developing a space-based sensor layer, the necessary requirements and progress toward this capability. Our distinguished panel included:
