North Korea Test Fires 3 Short Range Missiles

June 15, 2015

Voice of America:

North Korea on Sunday test-fired three short-range missiles into the Sea of Japan, just weeks after claiming a successful submarine-based ballistic missile test.

South Korea’s Defense Ministry says the North fired three KN-01 missiles from its eastern border town of Wonsan around 0730 UTC.

It says the missiles flew about 100 kilometers and landed in the sea.

The test is the latest since Pyongyang’s May 9 launch of three anti-ship cruise missiles.

The U.S. said that launch was “a clear violation” of U.N. Security Council resolutions. North Korea is under U.N. sanctions banning it from developing or using ballistic missile technology.

North Korea is under increasing pressure from international sanctions related to its nuclear and missile programs.
