Iran doesn’t need permission to develop missile defenses: official

The Iranian Armed Forces do not need permission to develop defensive capabilities, Iran’s Chief of Staff Mohammad Baqeri told parliament this morning.

“As a representative of the armed forces in the presence of representatives of the Iranian people, I declare that the armed forces are at the apogee of military and combat readiness and are not waiting for permission for the development of the country’s defensive capabilities,” he told IRNA.

Baqeri’s statement comes just 48 hours after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo put forward 12 conditions under which the US is ready to sign a new agreement with Iran.
