Orbital ATK wins $48 million contract for Missile Defense Agency rocket motor sustainment

WASHINGTON — Satellite and rocket manufacturer Orbital ATK won a $48 million follow-on contract from the U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s Targets and Countermeasures Directorate, the company announced.

Orbital ATK will continue to support the Trident 1 and Orion rocket motors the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) uses for targets and interceptors.

“Orbital ATK has more than 50 years of demonstrated performance providing aging and surveillance support of strategic motors for MDA, the Air Force, and the Navy,” Charlie Precourt, vice president and general manager of Orbital ATK’s Propulsion Systems Division, said in a statement. “As such, our world’s leading solid rocket motor expertise is helping ensure reliability and mission success for our customer”…
