ExecutiveBiz:

The Missile Defense Agency intends to award Raytheon a five-year contract to produce Standard Missile-3 Block IIA all-up-rounds for U.S. and foreign military customers beginning in fiscal 2019.

MDA said Friday in a FedBizOpps notice the possible contract action is contingent upon the approval of initial SM-3 BLK IIA production and the agency may issue additional orders that would extend the work’s period of performance through fiscal 2027.

Raytheon’s missile systems business in Tucson, Ariz., has served as the AUR design agent of all SM weapon variants over the past 52 years, according to the notice. SM-3 is a key element of MDA’s Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System and the European Phased Adaptive Approach for missile defense.
