Missile defense advocate says Eastcoast missile defense site selected

NEWTON FALLS – The location for a new, Eastcoast missile defense site has been selected by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, though the choice has not yet been revealed, said Riki Ellison, founder and chairman of the Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance.

Ellison said he doesn’t know which site was picked, but he believes it will come down to either Camp James A. Garfield, an Ohio Army National Guard base in Ravenna, and a base in Michigan, Ellison said. Another site in New York that is being considered has environmental issues, he said this morning.

Local people interested in seeing the site built should pressure their federal representatives to reveal the decision, Ellison said during his speech at an event sponsored by the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber in Newton Falls today.
